Project Description: Performing arts & classroom building
Size: 62,000 square ft. Seating in auditorium 1,200 people Construction Material
- The fly tower
was constructed utilizing up to 50 foot horizontal spanning
precast wall panels, 80 foot tall precast wind columns, and a 45
foot clear span steel roof. Precast concrete was chosen over
other building materials, primarily due to the three month
construction time saving.
- The auditorium
was constructed using precast floor plank bearing on steel,
concrete, and masonry. The balcony level had steel beams
cantilevering approximately 20’, with 8” precast plank spanning
between the beams. The roof was an approximately 125’ clear span
roof joist spaced at 10’ on center, with 40 pounds per square
foot ballast.
- The classroom
wing was constructed using 12” precast floor plank bearing on
masonry walls, and a steel joist roof bearing on masonry.
